From the team behind The Natural Philosopher, MakeShift is an unconventional cocktail bar making the most of an unusual setup: no bar, no problem. Operating as an evening extension of a daytime coffee hatch, MakeShift serves up Adaptable Cocktails—classics with a twist, tailored to your taste. Whether it’s a MakeShift Martini, where you choose your own flavoured vermouth and aromatics, or a Collins built around unexpected flavours, every drink is designed to be flexible, creative, and unmistakably delicious.

 

The space is intimate and social, with just 18 seats inside, creating a cosy, welcoming atmosphere. Drinks are crafted in the window and served straight to your table—no barriers, no formality, just great cocktails and great company. In warmer weather, our spacious outdoor area doubles capacity, making it the perfect spot for open-air drinks. Alongside the cocktails, expect small plates and bar snacks that fit the MakeShift philosophy—playful, and far from ordinary.

 

For now, we’re walk-in only—no reservations. If MakeShift becomes more permanent, we’ll set up a booking system. But for that to happen, we need your support.
